Meet Shannon Frew: Optical manager and partner
Shannon Frew brings over two decades of optical expertise to the location in Mill Woods, as well as a deep personal connection to the community. Born and raised in Edmonton, she says becoming a partner in Visionary’s Mill Woods clinic was “a huge step career-wise" and she’s excited to take this big step in her own community.
“This is my stomping ground,” Shannon says. “I got married at the church across the street. To offer exceptional eye care here, in a space that’s designed to make life easier for patients — while I’m building relationships in my own community — feels like the perfect next step.”
Her journey began in 2004 with a part-time optical job, which led her to enroll in NAIT’s Optical Sciences program. She distinguished herself there by earning the highest academic honours in both years. After managing an optical store from 2010 to 2017, she joined Visionary Eye Centre in 2018, where she’s known for building strong, lasting relationships with patients.

“The building is beautiful, spacious and accessible,” Shannon says. “Having the bus station right out the back door is a huge benefit for patients, especially seniors. Plus, the natural light and communal spaces make it feel welcoming and comfortable.”

“We’ve pretty much built our practice on referrals and footsteps coming through the door,” says Shannon. “It’s also better for patient care because patients, particularly seniors, can see everybody in one day. We try to organize ourselves so that we can make that happen.”
